Large areas are covered by dense bush, classified as Kalahari thornveld. Twenty-one game species have been released here. White rhinoceros, buffalo, blue and black wildebeest, eland, gemsbok, blesbok, red hartebeest and waterbuck are among the species that can be seen here. This area can be extremely hot in summer. Location: South-western part of North West province; north-west of Vryburg. Access: From Vryburg travel on the N14 in direction of Kuruman; the reserve entrance is on your right 1 km from town. Accommodation: Swartfontein Pleasure Resort, on the eastern border of the reserve, has luxury, fully-equipped chalets. There is also a camping and caravan site with full ablution facilities. Other facilities: Network of game-viewing roads, although dense bush obstructs the vie I many places; picnic sites with fireplaces; swimming pool at resort. Open: Throughout the year.
